Linda Atterton
Linda Atterton C. Psychol. MA (Hons) M.Phil.
Clinical Neuropsychologist

Linda Atterton qualified in 1993 as a Clinical Psychologist having trained in Norwich. She has specialised in neuropsychology for most of that time in the NHS, working for the last ten years as a Consultant in a Norwich neurorehabilitation team offering both inpatient and day patient services to people affected by a wide range of neurological conditions. She left last year to open her own independent practice, BrainCurve.

She is a full practitioner member of the BPS Division of Neuropsychology and has been since 2001. Her speciality is head injury, and she has a particular interest in the adjustment process after brain injury.

Linda prides herself upon putting people at ease during neuropsychological assessments. Where there are difficulties with cognitive functions such as memory she will design with you an individual rehabilitation programme to facilitate recovery and/or compensate for cognitive problems. She is committed to increasing public awareness of the emotional consequences of neurological conditions and will provide therapy to facilitate emotional adjustment and to help people cope with problems such as depression and anxiety, using CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy). She will also provide support regarding return to work. Linda accepts GP referrals, self-referrals, and referrals from other professionals, including medico-legal reports. She will also provide assessment of mental capacity where solicitors or other professionals need this expertise and in her last post worked on a project with her team to develop assessment tools for this purpose. Linda has provided medico-legal reports for over ten years and has given evidence in Court.

In addition to providing neuropsychological services for direct referrals to BrainCurve, Linda works on a consultancy basis with a Brain Injury Case Management Company where her role involves assessment of clients’ cognitive function, and providing expertise in both an advisory capacity and in a direct therapy context, e.g. CBT.

Linda enjoys teaching and giving presentations and in her last post lectured on the University of East Anglia Doctoral Training Course in Clinical Psychology.
